Troy Fautanu Drafted 20th Overall by the Steelers
2 weeks ago

The Pittsburgh Steelers have drafted University of Washington offensive tackle Troy Fautanu with the 20th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After being redshirted as a freshman, Troy Fautanu has developed into a promising offensive lineman over the last four seasons. Mainly being implemented as an offensive tackle, Fautanu did have a couple of starts at guard. In his senior season, the offensive lineman’s play got noticed as he garnered accolades off the field by being named a Third-Team All-American, and First-Team All-Pac-12 Conference.

At the NFL Combine, Fautanu illustrated some of his athleticism with his lateral movement, excellent footwork, and good hands. He came in at 6′-4″ and 317 lbs and posted a 5.01 40-yard dash. Fautanu earned a 6.47 Prospect Grade and a Next Gen Stats Total Score of 86.

Now that the Steelers have drafted Fautanu with the 20th pick, he should start immediately. He will be a great asset in the running game, with lateral quickness, and will probably be used as a pulling blocker to help Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren break long runs on the outside. Fautanu should also provide helpful pass protection to allow Russell Wilson more time to throw downfield.
