Sawyer Robertson Bio

Sawyer Robertson

Sawyer Robertson is a quarterback and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who completed his collegiate career at Baylor University after beginning at Mississippi State. A native of Lubbock, Texas, Robertson comes from a notable athletic family, as his father Stan was a first-round pick of the Montreal Expos in the 1990 MLB Draft, and his cousin Jarrett Stidham has played quarterback in the NFL. A four-star recruit in the class of 2021, Robertson enrolled at Mississippi State to play under Mike Leach's Air Raid system, spending two seasons in Starkville before Leach's death prompted his transfer to Baylor. He started four games at Baylor in 2023 as an injury replacement before taking over as the full-time starter in 2024, posting 3,071 yards and 28 touchdowns on a 62.2 percent completion rate. In his final season in 2025, he threw for 3,681 yards and 31 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, finishing his career with over 6,750 passing yards and 59 combined touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter for the Bears.

Robertson stands at approximately 6-4 and 220 pounds and carries the prototypical frame NFL evaluators look for at the quarterback position, along with arm talent that some scouts regard as among the best in the draft class, capable of driving the ball to all three levels with both zip and touch when his mechanics are aligned. His years in Air Raid-based systems at both Mississippi State and Baylor gave him an understanding of timing and spacing in the passing game, but also meant he rarely worked through complex progressions in a traditional drop-back offense, which remains the primary developmental concern for teams projecting his game to the NFL. His mechanics, particularly in his lower body, can break down under pressure, and his tendency to rely on his natural arm strength rather than transferring weight properly is an area that will require coaching at the next level. Robertson participated in the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine and projects as an early to mid-Day 3 selection with the physical tools and arm talent to develop into a backup or spot starter who could push for a starting role in the right system with continued development.
