Sam Hecht Bio

Sam Hecht

Sam Hecht is a center and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played his entire collegiate career with the Kansas State Wildcats. A native of Shawnee, Kansas, Hecht attended Mill Valley High School, where he helped the Jaguars win back-to-back state championships as a junior and senior and earned first-team All-State honors from both the Topeka Capital-Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He arrived at Kansas State as an unranked walk-on in the 2021 class, redshirted his first year, and saw limited action in 2022 and 2023 while earning multiple First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors and carrying a 4.0 GPA. He won the starting center job in 2024, starting all 13 games and earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors, before elevating his game in 2025 with 12 starts, zero accepted penalties, zero sacks allowed, and a promotion to First Team All-Big 12 and a finalist nod for Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Standing approximately 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, Hecht is known for outstanding technique, exceptional hand placement, elite processing speed in identifying defensive line stunts and blitzes pre-snap, and quick feet that allow him to function effectively in space on zone-blocking concepts. His walk-on-to-All-American development arc, combined with back-to-back dominant seasons allowing zero sacks across 25 career starts, earned him invitations to both the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, where he projects as a starting-caliber center with the intelligence and consistency to develop into a long-term starter at the next level.
