Rara Thomas is a wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who finished his collegiate career at Troy University after previous stops at Mississippi State and Georgia. A native of Eufaula, Alabama, Thomas was a three-star recruit in the 2021 class who committed to Mississippi State, where he made an immediate impact as a true freshman with 18 receptions for 252 yards and five touchdowns. He followed that with a strong sophomore campaign in 2022, posting 44 catches for 626 yards and seven touchdowns and establishing himself as one of the Bulldogs' top targets. He transferred to Georgia for 2023, contributing 23 receptions for 383 yards and a touchdown, but was dismissed from the program in August 2024 following an arrest on charges of felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor family violence battery. He landed at Troy for 2025 and rebounded to catch 39 passes for 629 yards and five touchdowns, declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft in December 2025.
Measured at 6-foot-2 and around 210 pounds, Thomas is a physically imposing boundary receiver with excellent size for the position and the athleticism to win in contested situations and create yards after contact. When healthy and focused, his tape shows a receiver capable of winning at multiple levels with good hands and the body to dominate smaller cornerbacks. The off-field concerns stemming from his 2024 arrest and program dismissal will be a significant factor in how NFL teams evaluate him, as character and off-field vetting is a critical part of the pre-draft process. Teams that view Thomas favorably project him as a developmental Day 3 or undrafted free agent candidate with size-speed traits that warrant a roster opportunity if he can demonstrate the maturity and character teams require.
