The lore of Philip Rivers ended in Week 17 for the Colts, as they lost 6 straight games entering Week 18’s contest.
Rookie QB Riley Leonard will get an extended look in Week 18. The University of Notre Dame product was a Day 3 selection of the Colts, but was limited throughout the season behind Daniel Jones. Leonard sat behind Rivers for the last three games, but now with the Colts officially eliminated, the team wants more live reps for the rookie.
Leonard rushed 173 times for over 900 yards and 17 TDs during his final season in college. His limits as a passer caused him to be a late round prospect in 2025. Don’t expect much fantasy production in Week 18 and beyond.

With Daniels Jones sidelined from a torn Achilles, Philip Rivers will have a workout with the Colts.
The Colts suffered 2 dramatic losses on Sunday. One to the division rival Jaguars to the tune of 36-19 and also in the form of starting quarterback Daniel Jones tearing his Achilles to end his season.
With the Colts fighting to salvage what was a promising start to their season, they will bring in Philip Rivers for a visit and workout tomorrow. The NC State and Chargers legend had a one year stint with the Colts in 2020 where they made the playoffs. Should Rivers play Sunday, that would be a dramatic boost all things considered. If Rivers can still sling it, fantasy gamers can hope Rivers will buoy the Colts weapons ala Jameis Winston and Joe Flacco.
UPDATE: Philip Rivers has signed with the Colts and could play as soon as this Sunday against the Seahawks.
