Mansoor Delane Bio

Mansoor Delane

Mansoor Delane is a cornerback and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played three seasons at Virginia Tech before finishing his career at LSU. A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Delane attended Archbishop Spalding High School where he was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class, choosing the Hokies over offers from Boston College, Illinois, Maryland and several other programs. He made an immediate impact at Virginia Tech as a true freshman in 2022, earning FWAA Freshman All-America honors after recording eight passes defensed and an interception in eight games. He started every game in 2023 and 2024, earning Third-Team All-ACC honors in his final season with the Hokies with 54 tackles, 11 pass breakups and four interceptions. After starting 29 consecutive games and accumulating 146 tackles, 22 passes defended and six interceptions in three Blacksburg seasons, Delane entered the transfer portal and joined LSU for 2025. His lone season in Baton Rouge was transformative, as he became the fourth LSU defensive back to earn unanimous All-America honors, joining Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne and Grant Delpit in that distinction, while also earning First-Team All-SEC recognition and a Jim Thorpe Award finalist nod. He posted 45 tackles, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions while allowing a 26.1 completion percentage, with opposing quarterbacks targeting him just five times across his final four games.

Measured at 6-foot and 190 pounds with fluid hips, excellent technique and a 4.44-second 40-yard dash, Delane is one of the most instinctive and complete cornerbacks in the 2026 class. His ability to anticipate route combinations before the snap, maintain clean footwork throughout the stem and arrive at the catch point with decisive timing is rare and has drawn consistent comparisons to the kind of scheme-versatile cover men who play in the league for a decade. He excels in both man and zone coverage, with strong ball skills documented by 41 career passes defensed and eight interceptions, and he brings a physical, wrestling-influenced edge to press coverage and run support from his days at Archbishop Spalding. The LSU environment in 2025 provided him with a spotlight against SEC competition that he consistently dominated. The primary concerns are his long-speed recovery against elite vertical receivers and occasional hip stiffness that shows up on contested deep routes. Most evaluations project him as a top-20 overall pick and one of the first cornerbacks off the board in April.
