Junior Tafuna is a defensive tackle for the Utah Utes, known for his relentless motor and disruptive presence on the field. Born on February 27, 2001, in Taylorsville, Utah, Tafuna attended Bingham High School in South Jordan, where he was a standout player and earned a three-star recruit rating. He committed to the University of Utah and redshirted during the 2020 season. In 2021, Tafuna burst onto the scene, earning Pac-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year honors with 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 5.5 tackles for loss. He continued to build on his success in the following seasons, recording 27 tackles in 2022 and 17 in 2023, while also contributing an interception and multiple pass breakups. Over his career, Tafuna started 45 of 48 games, earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors in each of his four seasons.
