Jayden Ballard is a wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who finished his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin after beginning it at Ohio State. A native of Massillon, Ohio, Ballard was a highly regarded four-star recruit in the 2021 class, rated the No. 55 overall prospect and fourth-best receiver nationally, and joined the Buckeyes' loaded wide receiver room. Over four seasons in Columbus he appeared in 35 games, finishing with 11 receptions for 177 yards and one touchdown as he was consistently unable to break through a depth chart featuring future NFL first-round picks. He transferred to Wisconsin for his final season in 2025 and recorded seven catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, including a 58-yard touchdown reception, while operating in a Wisconsin offense that ranked among the least productive passing attacks in the country, finishing No. 132 nationally in passing. He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft in January 2026.
Measured at 6-foot-2 and around 205 pounds, Ballard is a talented athlete with legitimate big-play ability and the kind of blue-chip recruiting pedigree that keeps him on NFL radars despite modest college production. He is a track and field competitor with good straight-line speed, natural hands, and the ability to win downfield on vertical routes, and his ceiling as a prospect remains compelling given that his career production at Ohio State was more a product of the depth chart than a reflection of his actual ability. The challenge for evaluators is that he was unable to produce at Wisconsin even with a clear path to playing time, which raises questions about his consistency and readiness. NFL teams project Ballard as a priority undrafted free agent candidate with developmental potential as a downfield threat and special teams contributor given the combination of athleticism and pedigree he brings to the process.
