DeShon Singleton Bio

DeShon Singleton

DeShon Singleton is a safety and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played his collegiate career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers after beginning it at Hutchinson Community College. A native of Greensburg, Louisiana, Singleton attended St. Helena High School, where he played quarterback and safety, before joining Hutchinson Community College in 2021, where he helped the Blue Dragons to a 9-2 record, a top-10 ranking, and a Salt City Bowl victory. Rated among the top 20 prospects in the junior college rankings and the No. 4 junior college safety, he transferred to Nebraska over offers from Kansas and Kansas State. After recording just three tackles in a reserve role in 2022, he posted 19 tackles in five games in 2023 before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Michigan. He returned fully healthy in 2024, starting 13 games and recording 71 tackles, four pass deflections, and an interception, then capped his career in 2025 with 70 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, four tackles for loss, and a sack in 12 starts, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors and helping anchor a Nebraska secondary that ranked third nationally in pass defense. He was invited to both the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine.

Standing 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Singleton is known for his combination of above-average size for the safety position, reliable tackling and run support instincts, and steady development throughout his college career that produced back-to-back seasons as one of Nebraska's most consistent defenders. His ability to cover ground in the intermediate passing game, his range from the single-high position, and his experience leading a Big Ten secondary project him as a developmental safety who NFL evaluators see as a special teams contributor with the size, athleticism, and experience to compete for a rotational defensive role at the next level.
