San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey showed again that he’s one of the best running backs in the league.
Even at age 29 Christian McCaffrey remains one of the elite running backs in the league, he proved it once again with 81 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries and another 40 yards and one score on five receptions.
While injuries and age have sapped some of his explosiveness, his longest run for the season was the 20 yarder he had against the Arizona Cardinals, his dual threat ability, instincts and vision are still second to none. Brian Robinson Jr. carried eight times for 24 yards.
Robinson Jr. will continue to rotate in to spell McCaffrey but this remains McCaffrey’s backfield and he remains a locked in running back one for fantasy managers.

There is growing pessimism that 49ers wideout Ricky Pearsall will miss Week 10.
The 49ers have been beleaguered by injury in 2025. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been out since Week 4 with a sprained PCL.
Fantasy managers are in a tough spot as Pearsall was crushing early in the season. While Pearsall is a tough hold, he must be left in the IR spot as he will surely crush the moment he is active. With starting quarterback up in the air between Mac Jones and Brock Purdy possibly returning, roll out and trust Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. Anything else is entering risky territory.

The San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey leads team in rushing and receiving with 2 touchdowns in win over the New York Giants.
Christian McCaffrey shows he is still elite even after 9 seasons and multiple season ending injuries. McCaffrey had another big day with 28 carries for 106 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, along with 5 catches for 67 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. The Niner defeated the Giants 34-24. Even when teams know he is getting the ball they still can’t stop him.
Christian McCaffrey is RB2 on the season only behind the Colts Jonathan Taylor. McCaffrey is surprisingly the lone healthy bright star on a decimated Niners squad. While it is entirely understandable that his ADP was RB4 heading into the season because his injury history, but the players who took him couldn’t be more happy with his production. McCaffrey shows no signs of slowing down.

It is looking like Mac Jones will be the Week 2 starter for the 49ers against the Saints.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is not expecting Brock Purdy to be ready for Week 2 against the Saints. He is calling it a long shot and backup Mac Jones is expected to get the start.
The news is another hit for the 49ers as they recently lost George Kittle for the next 3-5 weeks due to a hamstring injury. Jauan Jennings has dealt with calf and shoulder injuries recently, but should be ready for Week 2.
This shift Jones will exercise the thought experiment of whether or not Jones would have thrived were he to be drafted by the 49ers in the 2021 NFL Draft. The next logical question will be the duration of Purdy’s absence. Right now, things are looking bleak for the offense as a whole. In the meantime, receiver Ricky Pearsall and running back Christian McCaffrey are about to be fed buffet style and are weekly must starts.

Christian McCaffrey is added to the 49ers injury report with a calf issue.
Stop if you’ve heard this before, but 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has popped up on the 49ers injury report with a calf issue. Fantasy gamers don’t need much more to recall the scare that was last year where McCaffrey was a late scratch before Monday Night Football kicked off.
McCaffrey only played 4 games last year and didn’t make it back until Week 10. This is surely causing fantasy managers panic as McCaffrey has had glowing reports this offseason of looking like his prime self and being fully healthy.
The 49ers recently traded for Brian Robinson from the Washington Commanders. Suspicious fans will now wonder if Robinson was added with protection in mind in the event that McCaffrey misses time. Keep an eye on the Friday practice report as this late week injury report will cause ripple effects throughout the fantasy football landscape.

49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan says that wide receiver Jauan Jennings should play in Week 1.
Jauan Jennings has been dealing with a calf injury for the latter part of 49ers training camp. This has aligned with his demand for a new contract.
On the heels of the NFL season starting, Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects Jennings to play Week 1 versus the Seattle Seahawks. It will be interesting to see the snap share for his first game back and whether or not any rust has developed. Timing early on will be important with quarterback Brock Purdy.
In the meantime, 2nd year wideout Ricky Pearsall has been tearing up preseason and building a rapport with Purdy. With Brandon Aiyuk still in recovery from injury, there is plenty of opportunity for 49ers skill position players who can merely stay on the field. The favorites in the offense will be veterans Christian McCaffrey (running back) and George Kittle (tight end). Jennings is best left on the bench for Week 1.
