Andrew Mukuba is a dynamic safety who played for the Texas Longhorns before entering the 2025 NFL Draft. Originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, Mukuba moved to Austin, Texas, at age nine and attended Lyndon B. Johnson High School. He began his collegiate career at Clemson, earning Freshman All-American honors and ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. After three seasons with the Tigers, he transferred to Texas for his senior year in 2024. During his lone season with the Longhorns, Mukuba led the SEC with five interceptions and earned third-team All-SEC honors. He also played a pivotal role in Texas’ College Football Playoff run, including a crucial interception in a double-overtime victory against Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.
Following his standout college career, Mukuba was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (64th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft. Scouting reports highlight his elite athleticism, versatility, and football IQ, making him a potential impact player in the NFL. He is expected to compete for a starting role in the Eagles' secondary and may also see action at nickel cornerback depending on other defensive adjustments. While his 186-pound frame and short arms raise concerns about his durability as a full-time starter, Mukuba's ball skills, instincts, and leadership are expected to make him a valuable asset to the team
