Matthew Stafford Doesn’t Need Offseason Back Surgery
9 hours ago

The MVP candidate’s back should be able to heal on its own this offseason.

On Monday, Rams HC Sean McVay told reporters that Matthew Stafford will not require surgery this offseason to repair a herniated disk. Interesting news considering the veteran’s back was a major storyline entering the 2025 season. He missed much of training camp, and no one knew how much it would impact his play for the 2025 season. Turns out, it was a non-issue, as Stafford led Los Angeles to the NFC Championship game.

The 37-year-old Stafford was as sharp as ever this past season. He completed 65% of his passes for 4,707 yards and a career-high 46 TD passes against only eight interceptions. Stafford is an MVP candidate for the first time in his career and could take home the award at the 15th annual NFL Honors this Thursday night. Looking ahead, his future remains unclear, as Stafford isn’t under contract for 2026 and hasn’t yet declared if he intends to play.
