Emeka Egbuka’s Combine Snub: What It Means for His Draft Prospects
Emeka Egbuka’s 2025 NFL Combine performance didn’t include any eye-popping results, as he opted out of running the 40-yard dash, a key drill for wide receivers. While his absence from the 40 might raise some questions, it doesn’t overshadow the solid production he delivered during his time at Ohio State. With 81 catches for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, Egbuka has shown he can be a reliable target at multiple levels of the field, from short screens to deep routes. His crisp route running and physicality make him a tough matchup, and his versatility as a slot or outside receiver only adds to his appeal. His previous high school 40-yard dash time of 4.42 seconds suggests he has the speed to keep up with NFL defenses, though we didn’t get to confirm that in Indianapolis.
Despite not testing at the Combine, Egbuka’s draft stock remains strong. His ability to work in multiple formations, along with his solid pass-blocking and receiving skills, means he could step in as a day-one contributor in the NFL. Teams will likely look at his impressive college stats and his high football IQ to gauge his fit, and there’s still plenty of confidence around Egbuka as a potential first-round pick.
