Earlier this year, Luis Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto. He was undoubtedly the best player in Portugal before joining Liverpool. The 25-year-old was the leader in every statistic, and his tricky feet made him a fan favorite.
Week 5 was somewhat a reversal of Week 4. Last week we discussed the “rise of the dead zone,” based on it being a soft week for RB streamers and highly drafted backs alike in comparison to mid-round options. This was what a more traditional “good RB week” looks like. The backs scored well. The top 12 and top 24 RBs outscored their receiver counterparts for the second time this season and for the second consecutive week. However, this time it was the elites of the position doing it.
Well, five weeks into 2022, those QBs, Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan, have not been upgrades at all. On Thursday they combined for zero touchdowns and four interceptions. Between them, they’ve tossed more picks than scores on the season.
While everyone in Indianapolis wanted to run Carson Wentz out of town after 2021’s stunning season-ending loss to the Jags, so far in 2022, Matt Ryan has put up fewer Fantasy Points per Game and a lower True Passer Rating and QBR than Carson did last year.
Most managers will enter this week’s waivers knowing they will be without Amon-Ra St. Brown, Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, and Dameon Pierce. But there will be many managers who will not be planning for the Week 7 byes. If you have Josh Allen, try and figure out QB this week instead of next week. If you have Cooper Kupp, A.J. Brown, or Justin Jefferson, check your roster and make sure you have a fill-in, and if not, consider adding one this week. Stay a step ahead of your competition and never have to scramble to fill a need.
The worst part of our beloved game is the frequency of injuries. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of such a fast-paced, contact-heavy sport. It’s something that is important to remember as we approach the first full week of the preseason. Luckily for the NFL players, they have access to some of the best doctors in the world and can usually return to form at least by the next season. Unfortunately for us fantasy players, it’s not always easy to know when a player will get hurt. To another degree, sometimes your roster isn’t big enough to plan ahead for an injury. This series, the Infirmary Report, will give you advice on the injuries that have happened every week during the season. Welcome back to the NFC South update! Unlike previous editions of these articles, we have actual football games to look at and determine how these teams are performing! In this article, I have included where each team ranks offensively and defensively. Additionally, I’ve included a few key takeaways that stuck out for better or worse for each team. Week 5’s Monday Night game between the Raiders and Chiefs boasts a week-high 51.5 game total. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are 7.5 point home favorites while hosting the road-dog Raiders.
On the season, Hall has 28 Targets (No. 2) with a 15.4-percent Target Share (No. 7). He has carried the ball 38 times (No. 31) this season, but his workload has steadily risen to peak at 17 carries (5 Red Zone) in Week 4. Despite a 90.9-percent Protection Rate (No. 1), Russell Wilson is producing a career-low 16.6 fppg (QB14). Through Week 4, Wilson has a True Completion Percentage of 67.8-percent (No. 22) and has only one QB1 finish (QB3 in Week 4). His Passing Touchdown Rate of 3.1-percent is also a career worst. He loses 6.07 Lifetime Value points to fall outside the Top 10 dynasty QBs (QB11).
The New York Giants are running out of receivers. Wan’Dale Robinson has been hurt. Sterling Shepard is out for the season. Kadarius Toney has been hurt and is in the doghouse. Kenny Golladay’s dust sprained his MCL and is out for a few weeks. Now, Richie James is nursing a sprained ankle. Even Daniel Jones AND Tyrod Taylor sustained injuries last week. Saquon Barkley ran for 146 yards on 31 carries last week. Green Bay possesses the No. 5-worst run defense according to Football Outsiders’ rush DVOA metric. Barkley is the New York Giants’ offense, and he’ll need to produce for the Giants if they have any chance at being competitive. Hammer the RB1 this week.
