My Three Biggest Bold Predictions to Kick Off the Draft Party!
Bold Prediction 1.01 | Francis Mauigoa and 9 of his closest friends off the board in Round 1!
Ten offensive linemen in the first round. Say it out loud. Let it marinate. I know it sounds like the kind of thing someone tweets at midnight and deletes by morning (felt cute?). The offensive line class this year is stacked, and it seems like every team in the league is looking to add to their offensive trenches. These team builders are not messing around. When the dust settles on Thursday night, I think double-digit offensive linemen will have heard their names called. Boom.
Bold Prediction 1.02 | KC Concepcion? Omar Cooper Jr.? Someone is getting left for Day 2!
Wide receivers are about to get humbled, and I say that with all the love in the world. For years, the first round has been a runway for wideouts because the position has become a staple of every top 32 convo. This draft class feels different to me. The receiver class hasn’t generated that consistent “can’t miss” buzz, and with so much capital likely flowing toward the trenches, I expect fewer than five wideouts to land in Round 1. The last time that happened was back in 2016 when only four receivers were selected in the opening round. History, it seems, is not above repeating itself when the draft board is too loaded with linemen and edge rushers.
Bold Prediction 1.03 | Who will join Jeremiyah Love? Anyone… Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Jeremiyah Love is going to do something remarkable on draft night when he hears his name called early on Thursday. He’s going within the first 10 picks, but then the running back position is going to go completely silent for the next 45 picks. You read that right, just one running back in the top 50, and then a whole lot of nothing at the position for the better part of two rounds. Love is special enough that a team will break from conventional wisdom early, but the rest of the position? The league hasn’t suddenly fallen back in love with spending premium capital on running backs. One outlier at the top doesn’t erase a decade of roster-building philosophy. If anything, it just makes the drop off feel even more dramatic.
Studying for the Final Exam
The 2026 NFL Draft is shaping up to be one of the more unpredictable first rounds in recent memory, and I genuinely cannot wait to find out how wrong I am or, fingers crossed, how I’m diabolically right. Trench players dominating the board, a quiet night for receivers, and one electric running back making a statement before the position cools off for hours. These are the moments that make draft weekend feel like its own special event. PlayerProfiler will be right there with you for all of it, every pick, every surprise, every “I can’t believe they took him there” moment. Folks…let the chaos begin.
