After the Giants traded up to draft the big-bodied Malachi Fields in the third round, he is expected to see significant snaps during his rookie season with the Giants. Coach John Harbaugh praised his elite game speed and agility, noting that GPS data shows him playing much faster than his 4.61-second combine 40-yard dash.
Unfortunately, all of the GPS data in the sports world cannot convince fantasy gamers that Fields can separate at the NFL level. Field is a prototypical tailpipe banana in dynasty rookie drafts, though New York’s thin WR corps sets up Fields to emerge as a popular waiver wire target as his debut season progresses.

The New York Giants just secured a massive target to line up opposite of Malik Nabers, by drafting 6-foot-4 Malachi Fields, an outside clasher who pairs a 110.5 Speed Score (89th-percentile) with the mentality to win contested catches at the highest level. Fields had a 21.2 Breakout Age and a dominant 29.8% College Dominator Rating, proving he can command a high-volume target share while using his massive frame to bully undersized cornerbacks in the red zone.
In dynasty formats, Malachi Fields will be a late-second round pick for most with touchdown-dependent upside serving as a secondary or tertiary option for the G Men.
The top 5 ADP risers in the FastDraft Origins tournament are Kevin Coleman Jr. (+9.12), Omar Cooper Jr. (+8.57), Malachi Fields (+8.54), Bryce Lance (+6.10), and Zachariah Branch (+4.18). General consensus has been saying that the 2026 draft is weak overall, but deep at WR. This explains the recent trends, as drafters are beginning to target their favorite sleepers or call their shot on which WR sneaks into round 1 of the NFL Draft. Two such players being occasionally mocked in round 1 are Omar Cooper, who is coming off of a National Championship run with Indiana, and Malachi Fields who had a very strong showing at the Senior Bowl.
Meanwhile, Coleman and Branch are two undersized, but electric playmakers who could tear up the combine next week. In addition to them, Bryce Lance is one of the most exciting non-Power 4 conference players at the position in this year’s class. Drafters are getting out in front of the post-combine hype and betting that the rising ADPs of these players will look like a discount by April.
Notre Dame star wide receiver Malachi Fields is quickly turning heads at Senior Bowl practices, putting together one of the more impressive showings among wide receivers this week. The big-bodied target has consistently won in one-on-one drills, using his size, strong hands, and physicality to create separation at the catch point. Fields has looked especially comfortable working the intermediate areas of the field, flashing sharp routes and the ability to shield defenders with his frame.
Scouts in attendance has taken notice of his competitive edge and reliability, as Fields has stacked strong reps day after day against NFL-caliber defensive backs. Fields is making a strong case that he belongs in the conversation as a rising wide receiver, should be a Day 2 selection.
