Despite an organizational reset on defense, the Jets secured Breece Hall with a $15.25 million-per-year extension, cementing him as the centerpiece of their offense. The contract effectively operates as a two-year guaranteed deal with a non-guaranteed third year, somehow making Hall the NFL’s third-highest-paid running back.

With significantly improved offensive personnel and a major vote of confidence from the front office, Hall is well-positioned to out-perform his 2026 ADP in both best ball and dynasty leagues. Trade for him now in dynasty knowing the Jets are destined to upgrade the QB position.

Extending Breece Hall would typically be a no-brainer. However, stalled extension talks have created a 40% probability that Hall will play the 2026 season under the franchise tag rather than signing a long-term contract. Hitting free agency would significantly enhance Hall’s fantasy stock in dynasty leagues.

While Hall’s age-25 season makes a multi-year deal a viable investment, the Jets are hesitant to commit high-end resources to a running back while the roster remains far from playoff contention. Ultimately, utilizing the tag allows the organization to retain Hall’s elite production for another year without the risk of a financial “millstone” during their rebuilding phase.

While not an official verdict, Jets reporter Zach Rosenblatt believes that Hall could be back in a Jets uniform for 2026. That is, unless someone is willing to pay through the nose.

New York could use the transition tag (not franchise tag) on Hall, meaning he’d be set to earn the average of top-10 salaries for the position. On the transition tag, the Jets could still work out a trade, but that appears highly unlikely. On the transition tag, however, teams may make an offer directly to the player, and New York can match it. Conventional wisdom says they would. They don’t want Hall to leave the New York Jets of New Jersey at the Meadowlands complex (central-park adjacent), regardless of the fact that Hall has made it abundantly clear he’d like to be almost anywhere else.

The Jets are not cheap, and still seem willing to pay whatever it takes. They inked wide receiver Garrett Wilson to a four-year deal last year, making the wideout among the league’s highest-paid. The sticking point here is whether they think Hall will negotiate a new deal, and he seems hell-bent on going to a contender.

Hall has not even celebrated his 25th birthday yet (May), and since 2023, he’s tallied over 2,900 rushing yards and over 1,400 receiving yards on 169 catches. Grand total: 4,359 total yards along with 22 tips to paydirt. It’s widely believed the Jets will check his perceived value with other teams at the upcoming combine.

Fantasy lowdown: The running back’s managers would love nothing more than to sign on with a competitive team without all of the offensive dysfunction. Unfprtunately they may not get that wish. In his current situation, Hall weighs in at RB13 for the preseason after finishing RB19 in 2025. That preseason ranking would shoot up if he wound up elsewhere.

The New York Jets edges out Cincinnati Bengals 39-38, having a furious comeback in the fourth quarter to secure their first win of the season.  The Bengals jumped out to an early lead, scoring 10 points in the first quarter.  Followed by 14 in the second quarter, but Jets put up 13 points of their own in second quarter as well.  But, in the fourth quarter the Jets outscored the Bengals 23 to 7 to win by one point.

On offense the Jets piled up 254 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, while Breece Hall accounted for 133 of them and the two touchdowns, he also threw for the game winning touchdown as well.  Isaiah Davis added 65 yards of his own on the ground and added 5 catches for 44 yards.  Justin Fields got the nod to start this week, he went for 244-yards passing and one touchdown, while adding 31 on the ground too.  As, for their receiving game without their star receiver Garrett Wilson, Fields spread the ball around, Tyler Johnson led the team with 3 catches for 64 yards and a score.  Overall, for the Jets Breece Hall had a monster game having 3 total touchdowns, and Isaiah Davis can be stashed on fantasy teams.

For the Bengals, they moved the ball through the air reasonably well.  Joe Flacco in his third start for the Bengals threw for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also had a surprising touchdown on the ground too.  Flacco has targeted Ja’Marr Chase another 19 times this week.  Chase hauled in 12 of them for 91-yards.  Tee Higgins caught a 44-yard touchdown on his lone catch in the second quarter.  However, since the quarterback switch Chase Brown has benefited from it.  On Sunday, he ran for 73 yards and a score on the ground but also caught 3 passes for 32 yards and another score.  Samaje Perine did lead the team on the ground with 9 carries for 94 yards and a score too.

The New York Jets backfield is shaping up to be a fantasy goldmine in 2025. Breece Hall is going near the 4-5 turn in drafts while 2nd year back Braelon Allen is being drafted at the 11-12 turn.

Drafters can benefit from both backs being a part of their plans, but Allen has hidden value that doesn’t appear to the naked eye. Should Breece Hall get traded between now and the 2025 NFL trade deadline, Allen would be a top-12 weekly running back.

Allen gets comparisons to Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery. The archetype, skillset, and focus on the 1-2 punch rung game offensive philosophy make for an apt comparison. With that thought in mind, Allen goes 4 rounds cheaper than David Montgomery (round 7 ADP).  Keep an eye on the Jets backfield as Allen will have weekly value and would take off in a big way to be a league winner should Hall either miss time or get traded to another team.

Breece Hall dynasty managers are going to want to close their eyes and ears at the news that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is in favor of utilizing a running back by committee approach in 2025. This is not welcome news to those who want Breece Hall to be a bellcow running back.

Glenn spoke to Breece Hall being in a good place while saying he would utilize both Braelon Allen and the electric Isaiah Davis in tandem with Hall. This immediately triggers speculation that the Jets could be a candidate to trade Breece Hall on draft night. Jets reporter Rich Cimini has hinted at the possibility of the Jets trading Breece Hall away should Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty be available at pick 7.

In 2024, Breece Hall was 4th in running back receiving yards (483) and receptions (57) while 18th in carries at 209. Fantasy gamers are hoping Hall can return to his 2023 form where his 17.1 fantasy points per game ranked 6th at the position. Hall is currently going as RB-12 on Underdog in round 3. Utilize this hair cut in price to acquire Breece Hall in dynasty and click on him at ADP in best ball drafts. A trade will boost his draft stock and his current ADP still provides value despite head coach Aaron Glenn’s sentiments on a committee backfield.
