Chiefs add Justin Fields from the New York in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
This is quite the “insurance policy” for the Chiefs. Trading for Justin Fields on the same day free agency buzz is peaking really underscores how much the front office may be sweating Patrick Mahomes’ ACL/LCL recovery timeline.
Going from the Jets’ recent offensive struggles to Andy Reid’s system is essentially going from a tricycle to a Ferrari. In Superflex leagues, Fields just became a priority “handshake” pick if you’re the Mahomes owner, and if Mahomes isn’t ready by mid-September, Fields would be a Top-12 fantasy play purely on rushing volume.

Justin Fields is likely to be released by the New York Jets this offseason if a trade can not be facilitated.
Just one season after signing a two-year, $40 million contract that included $30 million in guaranteed money, reports state that Justin Fields and the New York Jets are likely to part ways. Fields will look to join his fourth team in four years.
This season with the Jets, Fields recorded 128 completions for 1259 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing 71 times for 383 yards and four touchdowns. He was placed on injured reserve in Week 17 after suffering a knee injury. It was a frustrating season for both Fields and the Jets, who finished with a 3-14 record and saw Fields benched mid-game in Week 7 and ultimately replaced by Tyrod Taylor in November. Fields will now look to find a new home, with newfound success like that of quarterbacks of the Jets past, Sam Darnold and Geno Smith.

The New York Jets are choosing Tyrod Taylor over Justin Fields to jump-start the offense.
The New York Jets are 2-8 on the season, Justin Fields was paid $40 million to be the starting quarterback. He has struggled to get the offense rolling, so the team is turning to veteran Tyrod Taylor. Neither quarterback has looked good in this offense.
The only Jets player even worth potentially starting is running back Breece Hall. The ceiling of this offense is severely capped by the quarterback play. Fields at least had his legs to provide some fantasy points rushing. Taylor has never been a runner. This week the Jets play the Ravens whose defense is starting to play like the defense they were expected to be. Taylor is not worth a start even if you are desperate.

Garrett Wilson will miss Thursday night’s matchup against the New England Patriots.
The Jets just can’t seem to catch any breaks. After 2 straight wins, they lose their stud wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Wilson had just returned from injury.
The knee sprain will not require surgery, however Wilson is expected to miss the next month. Depending on the Jets record, Wilson’s season may be over. The Patriots defense is in a smash spot Thursday night. Aside from Breece Hall, all other Jets are risky fantasy investments.

Garrett Wilson trending towards playing versus the Browns this week!
The Jets are sorely missing star wide receiver Garrett Wilson. He has missed with a knee injury since Week 7 and is coming off a bye week feeling healthy.
Wilson will be a much needed weapon versus the stout Cleveland Browns defense. Whether it is Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor starting at quarterback, this is much welcomed news for Jets fans and fantasy gamers alike. Fire up Garrett Wilson as a back end WR1.

Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor will be out until Week 1 after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
The Jets are heading into the 2025 season ready for Justin Fields to start the season. Backup Tyrod Taylor is a perfect archetype match to Fields should Fields suffer an injury. Both quarterbacks have excellent scrambling and rushing ability. Unfortunately, the Jets will need Fields to be healthy as Taylor has just had surgery on his knee.
Taylor will miss the rest of the preseason after undergoing arthroscopic surgery. The Jets are hoping to have him back by Week 1. While this isn’t reason to be too concerned, it does emphasize the need for Justin Fields to start the season in good health and to perform well.
Should the Jets 1-year experiment with Justin Fields not work out, they will surely be in the running for a starting quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. While Fields signed a 2-year deal, his cap hit in 2025 is $8 million compared to $23 in 2026. In the meantime, consider Taylor a stash in superflex dynasty leagues at best while Fields has top-5 weekly upside, as volatile as it may be.
