After extended struggles, the Dolphins will turn from Tua Tagovailoa to rookie Quinn Ewers.
The 6-10 Dolphins have been eliminated from playoff contention. Amid quarterback struggles from Tua Tagovailoa, head coach Mike McDaniel has decided to turn to rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Tua’s 12.6 fantasy points per game rank 31st and he is 2nd in interceptable passes with 20. In turning to Ewers, the Dolphins are hoping to find some answers for 2026. The Dolphins are in an unenviable spot as being cut in the offseason would lead to a $99.2 million dead cap hit. While his stock is plummeting for fantasy, expect the subject of the Dolphins quarterback room to be a hot offseason story.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers, once a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (231st overall). Ewers college career at Texas, including a 2023 season with 3,479 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. However, his 2024 season saw a decline in performance. Additionally, Ewers injury history, including multiple sprains and surgeries, raises concerns about his durability.
In fantasy football terms, Ewers is unlikely to make an immediate impact. He is expected to serve as a developmental backup behind Tua Tagovailoa. For dynasty league managers, Ewers represents a speculative stash with potential upside, but he should not be considered a priority in redraft leagues for the 2025 season.

Longhorns draft-eligible Sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers will return to school for 2024.
University of Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers is forgoing the 2024 NFL Draft and will return to school for the 2024 season. Ewers, a draft-eligible Sophomore lead the Longhorns to the NCAA Playoff where they were ousted by the Washington Huskies.
Ewers is an outstanding NFL prospect, but in the 2024 rookie class, he was ranked in the #5 to #7 range. He already showcases NFL-level arm-slot versatility, pocket presence, and escapability, and can extend plays. At 6-2/200 pounds, he’ll look to add some size as a Junior while increasing his draft stock, and he and his returning teammates take care of unfinished business.
The world will have to wait another year for Arch Manning.
