Keith Abney II is a cornerback and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played three seasons at Arizona State. A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Abney was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class, originally committed to Utah State before flipping to the Sun Devils. A former competitive speed skater and two-way high school player, Abney appeared in eight games as a true freshman in 2023, then broke out as a full-time starter in 2024 with 52 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass breakups, pacing ASU's defense and earning recognition as one of the Big 12's better cover men. His junior season in 2025 was his finest, as he led the FBS among cornerbacks in coverage snaps without allowing a touchdown and allowed just a 44.4 percent completion rate, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors while recording two interceptions, nine pass breakups and 39 tackles. He declared for the draft ahead of ASU's bowl game.
Measured at 6-foot and 190 pounds, Abney possesses the twitchy athleticism and processing speed of an experienced cover man far beyond his years. His footwork, hip transitions and catch-point timing are technically polished and he competes with an intensity that belies his relatively modest recruiting background. He is versatile enough to play outside or at nickel, showing proficiency in press man, off-man and zone coverage concepts. His 4.46-second 40-yard dash confirmed the athletic burst visible on tape, and his 30-inch arms are the one measurable concern, placing him in the eighth percentile among historical combine cornerbacks and fueling projections of a primary slot role at the next level. Abney projects as a Day Two selection with immediate starter upside at nickel and the coverage tools to develop into a reliable outside cornerback in a scheme that maximizes his processing speed and competitive drive.
