Keagan Johnson is a wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who finished his collegiate career at the University of New Mexico after previous stops at Iowa and Kansas State. A native of the Omaha, Nebraska area, Johnson was a highly regarded multi-sport athlete in the 2021 recruiting class, rated among the top 25 athletes nationally. He joined Iowa as a true freshman in 2021 and earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year consideration by hauling in 18 receptions for 352 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. A season-ending injury limited him to just two games in 2022, and he subsequently transferred to Kansas State, where he contributed 24 catches for 227 yards and two touchdowns in 2023 and 20 receptions for 359 yards and a score in 2024 across two productive seasons in Manhattan. Seeking a more prominent role for his final season of eligibility, Johnson transferred to New Mexico, where he emerged as the Lobos' top option in 2025, finishing with 55 receptions for 712 yards and three touchdowns across 11 games. His father, Clester Johnson, played college football at Nebraska, and multiple brothers played college football as well.
Standing about 6-foot and around 185 pounds, Johnson is a versatile slot and boundary receiver known for his ability to get downfield and stretch defenses vertically as well as create yards after the catch in space. His track background and short-area quickness allow him to create initial separation against man coverage, and his experience playing in the Big Ten at Iowa and the Big 12 at Kansas State before finishing his career in the Mountain West gives scouts a varied competitive sample to evaluate. The inconsistency and modest production during his Kansas State seasons relative to his recruiting pedigree is a point evaluators will weigh. NFL teams project Johnson as a priority undrafted free agent candidate with developmental potential as a depth receiver and special teams contributor whose athleticism and positional versatility give him a realistic path to competing for a roster spot.
