Julian Neal is a cornerback and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played his final season at the University of Arkansas after four seasons at Fresno State. A native of San Francisco, California, Neal attended Mission High School in the Mission District, where he was a multi-sport athlete playing receiver, defensive end and defensive back and earning All-City honors in both football and basketball. He was a three-star recruit in the 2021 class with limited Power Five interest, signing with Fresno State. He redshirted as a freshman, saw minimal action in 2022 and 2023 and broke out with four starts in 2024, posting 35 tackles, six pass breakups, two interceptions and 5.5 tackles for loss. He entered the transfer portal, initially committed to Stanford before flipping to Arkansas, and his lone season in Fayetteville was his finest, as he started all 12 games and set career highs with 55 tackles, ten passes defensed and two interceptions against SEC competition.
Measured at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds with arm length over 33 inches, Neal is a physically imposing boundary cornerback with the size and length NFL teams covet on the perimeter. He plays with patience and clean footwork in press coverage, using his length effectively to jam receivers at the line, slow their releases and stay connected through the route stem. His physicality as a run defender is a genuine strength, as he plays through blocks, fills the alley willingly and brings legitimate stopping power at the catch point. The concerns center on a lack of elite change-of-direction quickness that can expose him when receivers get into his hips on double moves, along with a tendency to grab in coverage that will draw stricter officiating at the pro level. A late bloomer with just one season of major college experience, Neal projects as a Day Two to early Day Three selection with starting potential as a press-man boundary corner in schemes that ask their corners to be physical and limit vertical threats.
