Red Murdock is an American college football linebacker and NFL Draft prospect who played his collegiate career with the University at Buffalo Bulls. A native of Petersburg, Virginia, he attended Fork Union Military Academy before joining Buffalo, where he steadily developed into one of the most productive defenders in the Mid-American Conference. Listed at 6-3 and 240 pounds, Murdock worked his way into a full-time role after redshirting and saw his production explode in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In 2024 he ranked second in the nation with 156 tackles, added 16.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception and a nation-leading seven forced fumbles, earning first-team All-MAC honors and national recognition for his playmaking ability. He followed that with another highly productive senior season in 2025, pacing Buffalo in tackles while adding five sacks and six forced fumbles, and earned multiple All-American selections for his sustained excellence.
Murdock’s game is defined by his relentless pursuit, physicality in run defense and uncanny knack for creating turnovers. He set the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision record for career forced fumbles with 17, a mark that highlights his disruptive presence around the ball. While his athletic profile is viewed as more traditional and physical than explosive, his instincts, tackle production and leadership have drawn attention from NFL scouts as he prepares for the 2026 Draft and the NFL Scouting Combine. Off the field, he has also been recognized for strong academic performance, balancing on-field excellence with success in the classroom.
