Jalen Stroman Bio

Jalen Stroman

Jalen Stroman is a safety and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who finished his collegiate career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after spending his first four seasons with the Virginia Tech Hokies. A native of Nokesville, Virginia, Stroman attended Patriot High School and was rated a three-star recruit before committing to Virginia Tech over offers from Duke and Virginia. He is the younger brother of NFL defensive back Greg Stroman. Over his first two seasons in Blacksburg he appeared in 24 games and recorded 51 tackles, two pass deflections, and two forced fumbles, then posted 55 tackles and four pass deflections in 2023. His 2024 season was cut short after just one game due to a season-ending injury, prompting him to enter the transfer portal. He joined Notre Dame for a graduate season in 2025, appearing in 12 games with five starts and recording 37 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception returned 44 yards for a touchdown, and a blocked punt in a single game against Syracuse, earning Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week honors. He accepted an invitation to the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl, where he drew attention for his coverage skills against tight ends and his downhill instincts.

Listed at approximately 6-foot and 200 pounds, Stroman is known for his aggressive downhill style, willingness to deliver contact through ball carriers rather than simply wrapping up, and an ability to read run concepts quickly and fill gaps with conviction. NFL evaluators project him as a strong safety or big nickel whose best football comes when he is deployed in box roles or two-high shells where his run support instincts and man coverage ability against tight ends can be maximized, and his combination of positional versatility, family football background, and a standout Senior Bowl week position him as a developmental defensive back with the toughness and work ethic to compete for a roster spot and grow into a reliable special teams contributor and rotational safety at the next level.
