Tyren Montgomery is a wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who completed his collegiate career with the Division III John Carroll Blue Streaks after previous stops at LSU and Nicholls State. A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Montgomery attended The Woodlands College Park High School as a standout basketball player but did not play organized football. After walking on to the LSU basketball program in 2019 and leaving after one semester when his mother fell ill, he eventually transitioned to football after throwing the ball around with his brother and receiving an offer to join a flag football team. He enrolled at Nicholls State as a first-time college football player, redshirted in 2022 while learning the game, then started five games in 2023 before an ankle sprain cut his season short at 12 catches for 171 yards. The NCAA ruled he had exhausted his Division I eligibility despite playing only one partial season, and he transferred to Division III John Carroll, where he broke out with 57 catches for 1,071 yards and a program-record 17 touchdowns in 2024, earning First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. In 2025 he became a consensus Division III All-American with 119 catches for 1,528 yards and 15 touchdowns, setting program records for single-season receptions and receiving yards as the Blue Streaks reached the national semifinals.
