Hank Beatty Bio

Hank Beatty is a wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who spent his entire collegiate career at the University of Illinois. A native of Rochester, Illinois, Beatty was a three-star recruit out of Rochester High School who also received interest from Iowa State before choosing the hometown Illini, joining the program in the 2022 class. He played a minimal role in his first two seasons, combining for just 15 receptions, before a breakout junior campaign that included a strong bowl game performance against South Carolina. His senior season was his true breakthrough, as he emerged as one of the Big Ten's most productive slot receivers, finishing with 70 catches for 864 yards and three receiving touchdowns while also playing a major role in the return game, breaking Red Grange's Illinois punt return record and averaging 18.9 yards per return across the season. His quarterback background from high school, where he earned Illinois Gatorade Football Player of the Year honors as a dual-threat signal caller, informed his route running intelligence, coverage recognition, and instincts in space throughout his college career.

Measured at 5-foot-11 and approximately 185 pounds, Beatty is a twitchy, quick-twitch slot receiver with strong football IQ, reliable hands developed through consistent work across the middle of the field against Big Ten competition, and elite return-game ability that provides immediate roster value at the next level. He is a scheme-versatile option who can operate inside or outside and brings genuine explosiveness as a ball carrier after the catch, using a low pad level, forward lean, and contact tolerance that belie his slight frame. His limitations center on below-average size and strength that will restrict him against physical press coverage at the NFL level, modest top-end speed relative to elite slot prospects in this class, and modest career volume before his senior breakout. Beatty projects as a Day 3 pick or priority undrafted free agent whose punt return ability and slot production in the Big Ten could earn him a roster opportunity as a versatile depth receiver and special teams contributor.
