Robert Henry Jr. is a running back and 2026 NFL Draft prospect who played at Jones College and the University of Texas at San Antonio. A native of Lumberton, Mississippi, Henry was largely overlooked by Division I programs despite a prolific career, and chose Jones College in nearby Ellisville, where he became the 2022 NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year after leading the nation in rushing with 1,302 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore, also earning the Walter Jones Trophy as the top junior college player in the country. He transferred to UTSA ahead of the 2023 season and became the Roadrunners' featured back over three seasons, rushing for 706 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024 before capping his career with a breakout 2025 season. That year, he rushed for 1,045 yards on 151 carries at a remarkable 6.9 yards per carry with nine touchdowns in 11 games despite missing two contests due to injury, earning first-team All-American Conference honors, a Doak Walker Award semifinalist nod, and national attention after rushing for 177 yards on 16 carries against Texas A&M to open the season. Across his UTSA career he totaled 2,339 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns, and over his full college career accumulated 4,136 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns.
Standing 5-9 and 205 pounds, Henry is a compact, explosive runner whose elite yards-per-carry production across his entire career reflects genuine burst, vision, and the ability to create big plays in space. He hits lanes decisively, accelerates quickly through the second level, and has shown the capacity to take routine runs to the house when given daylight. His pass-catching usage grew at UTSA, adding 21 receptions for 199 yards and a score in 2024 before contributing 18 catches for 114 yards in 2025, demonstrating versatility as a third-down option. NFL evaluators will weigh his level of competition across the American Athletic Conference and JUCO ranks, as well as his frame and durability after dealing with ankle and other injuries late in his career. Henry projects as a late-round pick or priority undrafted free agent whose production and explosiveness give him a legitimate chance to earn a roster spot as a change-of-pace back and special teams contributor at the next level.
